About the Role

As a Vocational Education Teacher, you’ll play a key role in preparing students for meaningful careers in early childhood, and education settings. You’ll create engaging, real-world learning experiences that reflect sector best practice and contemporary teaching approaches.

Working as part of a collaborative and supportive teaching team, you will deliver high quality programs across certificate and diploma levels. You will support students both in the classroom and during practical placements, helping them build confidence, capability and a strong sense of belonging as they progress through their studies. Aligning with our new strategy, Ad Astra, you will play a key role in supporting students to build confidence and successfully transition into higher level qualifications across the University, including dual and multi sector pathways.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver innovative, student-centred teaching across multiple modes
  • Assess students in both classroom and practical settings
  • Tailor programs to suit diverse learners and clients
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and compliance activities
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and culturally respectful learning environment

About You

You’re an enthusiastic educator who brings both professional or sector experience and a passion for teaching. You thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy working with diverse learners.

You’ll also bring:

  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality, innovative teaching across varied learning environments
  • A strong commitment to inclusive, student-centred education
  • Experience supporting diverse cohorts with tailored learning approaches
  • Understanding of Vocational Education and Training (VET) frameworks and compliance requirements
  • Industry experience in either:
  • Early Childhood Education, or
  • Primary/Secondary school settings (e.g., Education Support or Teacher Education Preparation)
  • Experience working with First Nations curriculum and a strong understanding of Cultural Safety

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) 

OR

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) 

OR

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) 

OR

  • Diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education
  • A secondary teaching qualification which is a credential issued by a higher education provider (as defined in section 5 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011) which would enable the individual to satisfy the academic requirements for registration as a secondary school teacher in accordance with the registration requirements in at least one State or Territory, and one of the following:
  • TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set or TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor, OR
  • TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set
  • AQF5 level (or above) qualification in Early Childhood or Education
