Your mission
We are seeking a veterinarian/veterinarian nurse who will be part of the BMIC core facility, whose purpose is to provide expertise and competence for PET studies in humans and primates, supporting both research projects and drug development programmes. PET is an imaging technique used to investigate brain function and/or biomarkers in healthy subjects and patients with various medical conditions. Working with PET experiments involves working close to or with low levels of radiation in a controlled environment.
As a veterinarian/veterinarian nurse, your primary responsibilities will involve working with modern anaesthetic techniques on primates, which includes preparation, intubation, inhalation anaesthesia, and monitoring of anaesthesia, as well as research documentation associated with PET studies. You will work closely with colleagues in the core facility, as well as with researchers, veterinarians, and animal technical staff in other parts of Karolinska Institutet.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with an education as veterinarian or veterinarian nurse with extensive experience in anaesthesia and knowledge of animal research. Experience with placement of venous catheters is required and experience with arterial catheters is meritorious. The job requires knowledge, skills, and experience in modern anaesthesia techniques, including peri-operative animal care, gas stations, ventilators, cannulations, intubations, monitoring and the management of acute situations.
You should have good planning skills, have an interest in research, and demonstrate an ethical approach in working with animals. Good English skills, both spoken and written, are required as you will be collaborating with colleagues from various nationalities. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
