Veterinary Anesthesiologist
Join a highly collaborative and forward-looking anesthesia team in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. We are seeking a full-time faculty colleague in Anesthesia at the rank of clinical- or tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor who is excited to help shape the future of clinical service, teaching, and scholarship in a dynamic academic environment. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside four faculty anesthesiologists, one part-time clinical instructor, one anesthesia resident, 7 LVTs and 2 assistants in a supportive setting that values clinical excellence, teamwork, mentorship, and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Primary job responsibility will be to direct the clinical anesthesia service, participate in didactic instruction in anesthesiology and related disciplines, supervise students in anesthesia and surgery labs, provide clinical instruction of professional students in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and provide anesthesia training of interns, residents and graduate students from various disciplines.
- The anesthesiology service has a residency training/graduate degree program, and this position would share responsibilities associated with resident training (resident seminars, journal club and rounds).
- The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the anesthesia service meetings.
- Service responsibilities will include anesthesia on both small and large animals, consultations in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, participation in continuing education programs of the College and participation in faculty governance activities.
- Service responsibilities will also include participation in emergency services. This responsibility will be shared with the anesthesiology resident and three DACVAA faculty anesthesiologists and one anesthesia trained clinical instructor.
- The successful candidate will participate in continuing education and faculty governance.
- The successful candidate must be committed to excellent patient management, client service and clinical teaching.
- Research responsibilities will vary based on the interest and qualification of the candidate and may include collaborative or translational research.

Required Qualifications: DVM or equivalent; completion of ACVAA or ECVAA approved residency by hire date; eligible for Virginia faculty veterinary license; occasional travel.
Preferred Qualifications: Diplomate status in ACVAA or ECVAA; advanced degree (MS, PhD); clinical experience; teaching experience; leadership record; previous scholarly activity.
Salary starting at 135000 and commensurate with experience.
