Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications: Proven experience within a medical environment involving endoscopy procedures. Knowledge of scopes utilized in procedures.
Position Summary: The Endoscopy Veterinary Assistant plays a critical role in supporting services that require the use of both rigid and flexible endoscopy equipment. This position is responsible for coordinating and assisting with endoscopic procedures for patients in both the small and large animal hospitals, maintaining procedure areas, managing inventory and supplies, and ensuring compliance with quality control and safety standards. This veterinary assistant also serves as a resource for training, troubleshooting and consultation related to endoscopy equipment and techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
- Successful completion of formal endoscopy training course as assigned by hospital administration within first 6 months of employment.
- Strong technical skills in endoscopy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a willingness to teach and mentor others.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- May sit, stand, stoop bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery.
- Wearing all protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles etc.
- May need to work for long periods of time with arms extended.
