Veterinary Imaging Technician

diagnostic images. The successful candidate will:

• Prepare, position, and restrain patients for diagnostic imaging studies.
• Perform radiographs, fluoroscopy, CT, MRI, and procedures for both small and large animals. Participate in nuclear medicine for feline hyperthyroid patients.
• Maintain a strong understanding of radiation safety and consistently follow and enforce required safety practices and regulations.
• Help maintain imaging equipment and identify routine equipment or operational issues.
• Assist veterinary students with patient positioning, imaging techniques, and radiation safety practices.
• Collaborate with veterinarians, radiologists, veterinary technicians, and students in a fast-paced teaching hospital environment.
• Complete appropriate patient records, documentation, and related clerical responsibilities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe imaging environment.
• Participate in a variable work schedule and after-hours on-call rotation as required. Must be able to report to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital within 60 minutes when on call.

Required Qualifications

• Must be a licensed (or license eligible) veterinary technician in Virginia
• Prior experience working with imaging equipment
• Excellent communication
• Quick learner on advance procedures
• Flexible and able to work in a dynamic department

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in radiology, including CT, MRI and/or NM
• Experience with student teaching
