Job Duties: UW Veterinary Care (UWVC) is excited to welcome dedicated Veterinary Tech Assistants to our Small Animal Operating Rooms (SAOR) team. This vital role supports and assists veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care, surgical preparation and assisting in surgical procedures. Willing to train the right candidate.

This is a full-time, 40-hours a week position. The expected schedule for this vacancy is Monday through Friday from 9:45am – 6:15pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. On-call shifts are required.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Inventories and organizes supplies
- Serves as a point of contact for animal owners and stakeholders providing information and answering questions
- Cleans and maintains organization of animal holding spaces, work areas and equipment
- Documents and disseminates results to the appropriate entities
- Assists with and executes the preparation, completion, and documentation of basic technical animal care procedures, assessments, and medication administration according to established care plans and medical necessity
- Assists with routine laboratory tests and specimen collection according to established medical orders and care plans
- Maintains organization of and updates records related to medical procedures and billing
Department: School of Veterinary Medicine, UW Veterinary Care Hospital, Operating Room Central Supply Team
Compensation: The starting hourly rate for the position is $19.00 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications). Required Qualifications:
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds independently
- Physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic animal handling skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal rules and instructions accurately
- Surgical experience
- Knowledge of basic instrument cleaning and sterilization processes
Education: High School Diploma Preferred
