VETERINARY TECHNICIAN, ALL SPECIES,Division of Comparative Medicine (DCM), to serve as part of MIT’s centralized animal care program, providing clinical care and research support for a diverse range of species; under the supervision of campus veterinarians, perform clinical observations, treatments, sample collection, colony management, technical procedures, and other study-related activities in compliance with approved protocols, SOPs, and regulatory requirements; work independently while collaborating closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and researchers to promote animal health, welfare, research integrity, and exceptional service; maintain clear communication regarding animal health, project progress, and clinical concerns.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED:High school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience handling laboratory animals; demonstrated time management, organizational, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment; proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications; ability to work weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) and, upon completion of training, participate in a rotating holiday coverage schedule. PREFERED: AALAS certification and/or CVT or equivalent; undergraduate degree in animal science, biology, or related field; experience with anesthesia administration and pre and post-operative animal care; proficiency in technical skills, including but not limited to injections and blood/tissue collection.
