Veterinary Technician or Senior Veterinary Technician - Large Animal Ophthalmology (# 376425)

Must be able to restrain and handle large animals and/or assist with large animal restraint and handling.

Jog patients

Under the direction of DVM's, perform vaccinations, IV injections, obtain fluid or tissue samples, perform biopsy techniques, administer medications, obtain fluid or tissue samples, bandaging, triage of medical care, etc.

With oversight by a DVM administers medications, vaccinations, allergy testing and others as defined by the duty clinicians.

Applies clinical job knowledge and competence to the management of the patient.

Maintains isolation protocols.

Barn upkeep and some maintenance.

Delivers outstanding customer service including (for example) greeting and receiving patients and clients in a caring and courteous manner, answering phone calls promptly, responding to clients, co-workers, and medical staff needs and requests, redirecting calls, etc.

Answers questions and explains or demonstrates procedures and equipment for clients, interns, senior veterinary students, and technician students.

Performs record-keeping tasks related to medical procedures, including recording of: procedures completed, supplies used, patient status, client communications, census information, etc.

Responsible to ensure that all services and supplies are charged for according to hospital fee schedule.

Maintains a clean environment in hospital area and ensures that these areas are adequately ordered, stocked and that equipment is in working order.

Assists in other LA service areas; develops skills that are cross functional and uses time efficiently.

Must have the ability to work in a clinical setting.

Must be able to work "on call"

Qualifications

Veterinary Technician:

Graduate of Veterinary Technician or equivalent program. Licensed Veterinary Technician in MN.

Senior Veterinarian Technician:

Graduate of Veterinary Technician or equivalent program, Licensed Veterinary Technician in MN. At least one year of veterinary technical experience. Ability to act independently with little or no supervision.

Pay Range: $24.41 to $28.81 (Veterinary Technician), $26.78 to $32.00 (Senior Veterinary Technician); depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 60% Appointment
