Job Description
Position Summary
The Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) serves as the University's chief student-life officer, providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of the student experience outside the classroom. The VPSA ensures that AUIB's student life programs foster holistic development, well-being, and engagement consistent with the University's mission and values.
The successful candidate will demonstrate energy, creativity, and cultural sensitivity, helping to shape an exceptional American-style student life model within Iraq's dynamic higher education landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, plan, and oversee all divisions within Student Affairs, including Student Life, Residential Life, Counseling & Wellness, Career Services, Student Conduct, Athletics, Student Activities, and the Student Union.
- Foster a vibrant, inclusive campus culture that promotes leadership, personal growth, and community engagement.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance student retention, success, and satisfaction.
- Oversee the design and delivery of student-centered programs that strengthen co-curricular learning and campus engagement.
- Collaborate closely with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, and Campus Operations to align student services with institutional priorities.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and accreditation standards (e.g., WSCUC).
- Serve as a visible, approachable advocate for students and as a key member of the University's senior leadership team.
- Manage staff, budgets, and resources efficiently to deliver high-quality programs and services.
Qualifications
- Doctorate (preferred) or master's degree in higher education administration, student development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in student affairs, preferably within an American-style university.
- Demonstrated success in building or leading comprehensive student-life programs, including housing, counseling, and student activities.
- Strong intercultural competence and ability to thrive in an international academic environment.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Deep commitment to student success, inclusion, and the transformative mission of higher education.
