The Opportunity
Position: Vice President, Institutional Advancement, Communications, and Marketing
Location: Largo, MD
Reporting Relationship: President
The VP for Institutional Advancement, Communications, and Marketing oversees the Communications Department, including public relations, creative design, PGCC TV, and social media, as well as marketing and institutional advancement. This position is responsible for building internal momentum and developing Prince George’s Community College’s plan for sustainability.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field required
- Minimum of ten (10) years of full-time experience in the professional area of higher education.
- Must have at least five (5) years of experience supervising personnel and administering programs directly related to the professional area.
- Doctorate degree preferred
Essential Functions
- Provides executive leadership for Institutional Advancement, Communications, and Marketing, ensuring alignment with the College’s mission, vision, and priorities.
- Develops and champions a comprehensive institutional advancement vision that strengthens philanthropic support, community engagement, constituent relationships, and the College’s long-term sustainability.
- Leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive advancement strategy that supports the College’s mission, enhances institutional visibility, and expands philanthropic investment.
- Cultivates, solicits, and stewards relationships with donors, alumni, community leaders, corporations, foundations, and other key stakeholders to increase philanthropic support for the College.
- Provides strategic leadership and oversight for Communications and Marketing, advancing an integrated, forward-looking communications strategy that amplifies the College’s reputation and mission impact across all audiences.
- Directs communications and marketing strategies that enhance the College’s reputation, increase visibility, support enrollment and student success initiatives, and promote institutional achievements.
- Serves as a principal advisor to the President and executive leadership team on institutional advancement, communications, marketing, public affairs, external relations, and partnership development.
- Develops and strengthens workforce, philanthropic, community, and industry partnerships that advance economic development, innovation, student success, and institutional sustainability.
- Oversees advancement operations, including donor engagement, prospect development, stewardship, advancement reporting, campaign management, and constituent relationship management systems.
- Leads initiatives that strengthen alumni engagement, volunteer leadership, donor recognition, and community involvement in support of the College.
- Monitors trends and emerging opportunities in philanthropy, higher education, workforce development, communications, and marketing to position the College for growth and enhanced community impact.
- Provides strategic oversight, supervision, and performance evaluation for assigned departments and staff.
- Fosters strong cross-campus collaboration and alignment with faculty, staff, administrators, and College leadership to strengthen institutional advancement, communications, marketing, and community partnerships.
- Establishes measurable goals and performance metrics for advancement, communications, marketing, and partnership initiatives and regularly evaluates outcomes to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement.
- Provides leadership in the allocation of resources to support communications, marketing, and institutional advancement initiatives, ensuring effective implementation, measurable outcomes, and alignment with institutional goals.
- Complies with the State of Maryland ethics requirements, including annual financial disclosure with the Maryland State Ethics Commission.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of the President’s and the College’s mission and strategic direction.
