role leads efforts to strengthen employer/business partnerships, respond to workforce and industry needs, drive enrollment growth, and enhance program outcomes that support both individual learners and regional economic development.
Required Education/Experience:
- Masters degree in business, education, or a related field with a focus on workforce development and / or adult education.
- At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience, including five years in senior management roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- As the third largest continuing education provider in the state, exceptional supervisory skills are necessary to lead a division comprising approximately 50 full-time employees and over 100 part-time temporary faculty members.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:
- Some expertise in working with grants and tuition waivers.
- Experience in public higher education, especially within a community college setting, is preferred.
- A background in North Carolina workforce development and continuing education is preferred including economic development and training.
- Familiarity with continuous process improvement approaches (Lean, PDCA, or similar)
- Ability to build consensus around process changes across departments with differing priorities.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The candidate should possess knowledge and experience in higher education administration, budgeting, training, and supervision. They must excel at building relationships and being a trusted source for workforce development. Strong marketing and collaboration skills and a track record in program development and delivery are essential.

Duty and Responsibility:
- Collaborate with industry leaders, community stakeholders, and governmental agencies to create, develop, market, and implement sustainable strategies that address community and industry needs. Synthesize input from various sources to anticipate and create programs that meet emerging workforce trends.
- Provide leadership in the development, improvement, planning, coordination, and evaluation of programs, projects, processes, policies, procedures, systems, and services. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, grant regulations, and standards. Collaborate with multiple departments to streamline activities.
- Serve as an integral member of the Presidents cabinet and working closely with Academic Programs, and other colleagues to develop cross-divisional programs that benefit students. Foster collaboration across disciplines to enhance the educational experience.
- Review and approve complex data, information, and reports. Make recommendations based on findings and approve reports submitted to external sources and regulatory bodies
- Manage the divisions annual budget process, including planning, prioritizing development, monitoring, allocation, oversight, and expenditure monitoring. Coordinate budget priorities to ensure they align with college goals.
- Ensure compliance with North Carolina Community Colleges service standards, policies, and procedures relevant to corporate and continuing education.
- Drive growth and innovation within the division and the college. Implement emerging technologies and economic development initiatives. Identify opportunities for new workforce and community programs that align with the colleges mission and goals, maximizing resources for the benefit of students, faculty, and staff.
- Assist in the identification and pursuit of grant activities that align with the colleges mission. Engage in strategic planning at all levels to support institutional growth and advancement.
- Provide appropriate policy recommendations to the President related to corporate and continuing education.
- Collaborate with state, educational partners, and industry stakeholders on technology-driven initiatives that strengthen Corporate and Continuing Education programs. Lead efforts to implement innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance service delivery, and create a seamless experience for students, faculty, employers, and staff.
- Reviews existing policies, procedures, and workflows; recommends and implements improvements that increase efficiency, consistency, and quality of service.
