Vice President of Instruction
Job Summary
The Vice President of Instruction (VPI) has broad responsibilities for the planning, development and administration of the College's educational programs and services. The VPI ensures academic integrity and supports innovations in programs, workforce development and methods of delivery that respond in a timely manner to a rapidly changing environment.
As an Executive Administrator and a member of the President's Senior Leadership Team, the VPI contributes to strategic planning, policy development, budgetary decisions, institutional problem-solving, accreditation processes, and the evaluation of how institutional decisions impact academic programs.
Supervisor Responsibilities
Manage a team of administrators, full-time faculty, adjuncts, professional and support staff which includes:
- Overseeing operations and guiding team members to ensure productivity and efficiency
- Conducting regular check-ins and delivering constructive feedback

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree.
- Minimum of five years of successful academic administrative experience at the dean level, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible leadership experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in curriculum development, academic planning, assessment, budget management, and faculty and staff evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree.
- Previous college teaching experience.
Description of Job Duty
- Leads instructional programs and faculty committees by providing direction, coordination, and accountability for academic divisions.
- Recommends personnel decisions to the President, including hiring, evaluation, and development while ensuring consistency with collective bargaining agreements and Board policy.
- Represents the College at external events, to promote academic programs, strengthen partnerships, and support workforce and transfer initiatives.
- Fosters an inclusive, respectful campus culture by ensuring that instructional practices, policies, and leadership approaches support equity for a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
- Collaborates across the institution to design and implement innovative retention and enrollment strategies.
- Conduct program review and ensure community-responsive offerings by using data, labor market information, and stakeholder input to evaluate program effectiveness, recommend improvements, and align curriculum with regional workforce needs.
- Builds and maintains partnerships with industry, K-12 districts, universities, and community organizations to expand pathways.
- Develops and monitors annual operational and budget plans to ensure effective allocation of resources, fiscal responsibility, and alignment with strategic priorities and enrollment trends.
- Ensures compliance with accreditation and licensing standards by supporting efforts related to program accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Proposes academic policies and participates in contract negotiations by providing expertise on instructional operations, faculty roles, and academic priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
