The Vice President of Student Services & Enrollment Management (VPSS&EM) serves as a senior executive leader and a key member of the President’s Executive Council at Yakima Valley College (YVC). This position provides strategic vision, leadership, and administrative oversight for all student services, enrollment management, and related campus operations while advancing the College’s mission of access, equity, student success, and completion
The VPSS&EM exercises delegated authority from the President for student services, enrollment management, and Grandview Campus operations, and is empowered to act on behalf of the institution within established policies, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
The VPSS&EM is responsible for creating an integrated, student-centered ecosystem that supports recruitment, onboarding, persistence, and completion for a diverse student population across YVC’s campuses and service district. In close partnership with campus and community stakeholders, the VPSS&EM advances innovative, data-informed strategies and secures external resources that strengthen enrollment stability, student success, and institutional sustainability.
Under the President's leadership, the VPSS&EM is expected to be a collaborative, ethical, and visionary leader who demonstrates integrity, empathy, accountability, and sound judgment. The role requires a strong campus presence, thoughtful engagement with community partners, and a sustained commitment to improving student outcomes.

Essential Tasks
Supervision from the President and Executive Collaboration:
- Report directly to and receive supervision from the President in carrying out all assigned responsibilities.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the President to advance the College’s mission, strategic priorities, and institutional goals related to student services and enrollment management.
- Maintain regularly scheduled meetings with the President to provide updates, share analysis, elevate emerging issues, and align priorities.
- Carry out assignments, special projects, and initiatives as designated by the President.
- Serve as a designee of the President in specific functional or operational areas related to student services, enrollment management, and Grandview Campus operations.
- Act as a representative of the College, as delegated by the President, for internal and external meetings, partnerships, committees, and initiatives that support student success and enrollment objectives.
- Exercise sound judgment and decision-making consistent with institutional values, policies, and the President’s expectations.
Strategic Leadership:
- Provide executive leadership and oversight for the Division of Student Services & Enrollment Management, including but not limited to: Admissions, Registration, Financial Aid, Advising and Counseling, Career Services, Student Success Initiatives, Disability Support Services, Veteran Services, TRIO and other pre-college or grant-funded programs, Student Life, Student Conduct, YVCCares, Alumni Relations, Grandview Campus, Running Start, and Intercollegiate Athletics.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive, equity-centered enrollment management strategy focused on growing enrollment, eliminating barriers to access and retention, closing opportunity gaps, and improving student success and completion outcomes.
- Champion a student-first culture that is inclusive, culturally responsive, and aligned with Guided Pathways and other student success frameworks.
- Serve as a visible advocate for students and translate large-scale student success strategies into actionable institutional practice.
- Collaborate closely with Academic Affairs to ensure alignment between instructional programs, advising, and student support services that promote timely completion, transfer, and workforce readiness.
- Serve as the chief student advocate, ensuring student perspectives inform institutional planning, policy development, and executive decision-making.
Guided Pathways Leadership:
- Serve as a college-wide leader for Guided Pathways.
- Participate on the Guided Pathways Strategic Planning Team and Guided Pathways Advisory Council.
- Advance advising redesign, onboarding, and pathway clarity initiatives that improve student momentum and outcomes.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of advising philosophy, evidence-based advising practices, and multiple advising models and how these approaches align with and operationalize Guided Pathways.
- Ensure advising practices are equity-centered, culturally responsive, and inclusive, and intentionally designed to eliminate barriers, promote belonging, and support historically underserved student populations.
- Support the alignment of advising structures, staffing models, technology, and professional development to strengthen pathway-informed advising and student success.
Grandview Campus Executive Leadership:
- Provide executive leadership, supervision, and strategic direction for the Yakima Valley College Grandview Campus, serving as the primary senior administrator responsible for student services, enrollment management, and campus-based operations.
- Ensure the Grandview Campus is fully integrated into college-wide enrollment, student success, Guided Pathways, equity, and workforce initiatives while honoring the unique cultural, economic, and educational needs of the Lower Valley communities.
- Maintain a visible, engaged leadership presence at the Grandview Campus, fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and community-centered environment.
- Strengthen partnerships with K–12 districts, community-based organizations, tribes, employers, and regional stakeholders.
- Advocate for appropriate staffing, facilities, and infrastructure to support enrollment growth, student success, and long-term sustainability.
- Represent the Grandview Campus in executive decision-making and institutional planning.
Community & Service District Engagement:
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of Yakima Valley College’s service district, including its communities, demographics, educational pathways, and workforce needs across Yakima, Kittitas, and Klickitat counties.
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with local educational, workforce, tribal, civic, and community partners.
- Serve as a visible ambassador for Yakima Valley College within the service district, reinforcing the College’s role as a community institution.
Grants, Resource Development & Fiscal Stewardship:
- Provide executive leadership for the identification, development, writing, and management of grants and externally funded initiatives that advance student success, enrollment growth, equity, and institutional priorities.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to pursue local, state, federal, and philanthropic funding opportunities.
- Ensure effective oversight, compliance, reporting, and sustainability planning for grant-funded programs.
- Exercise effective stewardship over student services resources
Institutional Effectiveness, Policy & Continuous Improvement:
- Partner with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to establish, monitor, and assess key performance indicators related to access, enrollment, persistence, equity gaps, completion, and student experience.
- Use data, dashboards, and assessment results to evaluate program effectiveness and inform strategic decision-making.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures for operating units within the division.
- Support accreditation, system accountability, and Board reporting through accurate analysis and narrative interpretation of student outcomes.
Student Well-Being, Conduct & Compliance:
- Provide executive leadership for student-related crisis response, behavioral intervention, and care coordination.
- Administer student disciplinary procedures and oversee student conduct systems.
- Oversee compliance and policy implementation related to Title IX, FERPA, ADA, disability services, student conduct, and overall student care as related to student services college wide.
- Provide leadership for campus threat assessment, student well-being protocols, and emergency response planning as related to student services.
- Ensure proper administration and regulatory compliance of federal and state financial aid programs.
Shared Governance, Professional Development & Leadership Development:
- Collaborate effectively with shared governance bodies, employee unions, and campus councils.
- Evaluate and oversee the development of professional development plans and goals for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate direct reports.
- Build leadership capacity and implement succession planning to ensure long-term organizational sustainability.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Technology & Digital Student Experience:
- Lead continuous improvement of the student digital experience, including student information systems, CRM platforms, online onboarding tools, and virtual student services.
- Partner with Technology Services and Instruction to leverage technology and automation that improve access, efficiency, communication, and student engagement.
Alumni Association & Advancement Collaboration:
- Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the Yakima Valley College Alumni Association in collaboration with the Office of the President, ensuring alignment with the College’s mission, student success priorities, and community engagement goals.
- Collaborate closely with the Yakima Valley College Foundation and the Office of the President to strengthen alumni relations, coordinate events, and support fundraising, stewardship, donor engagement, and institutional advancement efforts.
- Support the development of inclusive alumni engagement strategies that reflect the diverse backgrounds, pathways, and experiences of YVC students, including transfer students, workforce alumni, adult learners, and first-generation graduates.
- Leverage alumni engagement to support enrollment, mentoring, career exploration, workforce connections, and student success initiatives.
- Serve as a visible institutional representative to alumni and community stakeholders, strengthening Yakima Valley College’s identity, reputation, and long-term community impact.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, public administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of four (4) years of dean-level or higher leadership experience with substantial responsibility for strategy, budgeting, personnel supervision, and institutional decision-making.
- Demonstrated record of progressively responsible leadership overseeing complex operations, cross-functional teams, and high-impact initiatives related to student services, enrollment management, or student success.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, fiscal management, personnel supervision, and cross-divisional collaboration.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, access, and student success in an open-access, community-focused, Hispanic Serving Institution, or similarly mission-driven environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate in higher education, public administration, leadership, or a related field.
- Demonstrated executive-level experience leading a major division, campus, or institutional portfolio.
- Experience serving as a member of a senior executive leadership body (e.g., President’s Executive Council or equivalent).
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale change initiatives, organizational transformation, or system-wide implementation efforts.
- Demonstrated success in grant development, grant management, and stewardship of externally funded initiatives.
- Experience working with and/or implementing Guided Pathways, advising redesign, intercollegiate athletics, and pre-college programs.
- Knowledge of culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogy and an understanding of the teaching and learning process.
- Demonstrated professional within rural, agricultural, and Hispanic-serving communities.
- Established relationships or collaborative experience with local educational, workforce, tribal, or community partners.
- Experience within the Washington State Community and Technical College system or a comparable statewide system.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
