Position Summary
The Trinity College Political Science Department and Public Policy and Law Program seek applications for a visiting assistant professor in American politics, beginning in Fall 2026. The teaching load is 5 courses a year and will include courses in the candidate’s area of research expertise. We will prioritize candidates with the interest and ability to teach an introduction to US public policy and courses on US political institutions, broadly defined. The successful candidate will be eligible for research and conference travel funds.

Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Political Science should be in hand by August 2026. Evidence of scholarly expertise and teaching effectiveness is required.

Please submit the following materials: CV; cover letter (describing research and teaching, including your approach to teaching and supervising undergraduates from diverse backgrounds); sample of scholarly writing; course syllabi; course evaluations; a graduate transcript; and contact information for at least three individuals who will provide letters of reference. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and those received by February 9, 2026 will receive full consideration.
