Visiting Assistant Professor of Choral Conducting
The School of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Choral Conducting to start August 1, 2026. We seek an artist/teacher with experience working with students from diverse musical, social, and cultural backgrounds. The ideal candidate is a highly accomplished and versatile musician-teacher dedicated to excellence for all students. They will be a skilled and experienced teacher of undergraduate and graduate students and will fulfill duties and responsibilities commensurate with academic positions at a leading institution. The successful candidate will conduct choral ensembles, teach undergraduate and graduate conducting, and choral literature. The successful candidate may also teach other related courses offered in the areas of conducting, voice, and/or choral music education. As a member of the School of Music faculty, the Visiting Assistant Professor of Choral Conducting will contribute to ongoing equity and inclusion initiatives in the school.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in music or related field. Significant conducting experience at the collegiate and/or professional level. Experience teaching conducting at the collegiate level. Demonstrated experience teaching a diverse student body.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree in music or equivalent professional experience. Demonstrated experience teaching conducting or other coursework at the graduate level. Emerging National Reputation. Demonstrated ability to teach other coursework (such choral literature, voice, music education, etc.) depending on the candidate’s expertise and the needs of the department. Demonstrated experience in mentoring a diverse population of students.
