Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Science
Job Summary
The School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic candidate for a temporary, non-tenure-track faculty position in Environmental Science with strong experience in the geosciences. This is an academic year 10-month contract. The contract is expected to begin August 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Develop and teach a variety of courses in geology and environmental science, ranging from general education courses to upper-division courses in the Environmental Science major.
- Maintain on-campus office hours; prepare lesson plans, syllabi (including course objectives), lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams; and submit final grades and attendance reports on time.
- Engagement in professional development, service, and scholarship activities.
- Travel to fulfill instructional or other duties, including to the Brunswick Campus or the Camden Center location.
- Maintain a commitment to high-impact educational practices and student success.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Ph.D. in Environmental Science / Geology or a closely-related geoscience discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate level credits in environmental science and/or geology.
Other Required Qualifications
Commitment to highly effective and engaging science education.
Commitment to implementing experiential learning and high-impact educational practices in the classroom and lab.
Required Experience
Successful teaching experience.
