Visiting Fellow - Plastic Surgery
The Visiting Fellow will obtain advanced research training while contributing to the exchange of scientific knowledge within the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Under the mentorship of the principal investigator, the fellow will plan and execute independent and collaborative research projects in the Salazar-Puerta Lab, with a primary emphasis on bioinformatics, data processing, and integrative analysis in translational and regenerative biomedical research. The fellow will design and implement analytical workflows for the processing, analysis, and interpretation of complex biological datasets, including transcriptomic and other high-dimensional data. Responsibilities include applying statistical and computational methods, developing scripts or pipelines as needed, integrating experimental and computational results, and generating publication-quality figures and summaries. The position will also involve performing selected molecular biology techniques (e.g., RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR) to support data-driven research objectives, with limited involvement in histological or animal work as required. The Visiting Fellow will contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and conference presentations, and may assist in the development of grant proposals for extramural funding. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate research documentation, ensuring compliance with laboratory and data management standards, and providing mentorship or technical guidance to students and junior laboratory members in data analysis and research methodologies.
Minimum Education & Experience Required
Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
