Job Summary
Reporting to the department chair, the visiting instructor of Mechanical Engineering will teach 15 credit hours per semester which is typically equivalent to 5 courses per semester. The visiting instructor will primarily teach engineering science courses such as Computer Applications for Engineers, Engineering Graphics and Solid Modeling, Numerical Methods for Engineers, Statics, Dynamics, Machine Design, Mechanism Design/Kinematics and Energy Science.
Required Qualifications
- Earned PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (with at least 18 graduate semester hours completed in Mechanical Engineering), by August 1, 2026.
- Credentials to develop and teach lectures and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering at the undergraduate level,
- Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Credentials to teach undergraduate courses such as but not limited to Engineering Graphics and Solid Modeling, Computer Applications for Engineers, Numerical Methods for Engineers, Statics, Dynamics, Strength of Materials, Machine Design, Mechanism Design and Energy Science.
