Department of Asian Languages and Civilization
Location: Amherst, MA
Open Date: Dec 22, 2025
Amherst College's Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations invites applications for two positions of visiting lecturer in Chinese language, beginning July 1, 2026. There are two vacancies, one a full-time and another a half-time appointment, with an initial one-year term and the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and the departmental needs. These are purely instructional positions: a full-time visiting lecturer carries the equivalent of a three-course load each semester, while a half-time position carries a one-and-a-half-course load each semester. The successful candidate will offer courses in elementary through advanced levels of the Chinese language. When applying, indicate the preference of the position, full-time only; half-time only; or open to either position.
