Visiting Lecturer in Modern Hebrew

The Program in Judaic Studies at Brown University invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer in Modern Hebrew Language for the Fall 2026 semester.

The successful candidate will teach three in-person courses in the Modern Hebrew language sequence: Elementary Modern Hebrew (HEBR 100), Intermediate Modern Hebrew (HEBR 300), and Advanced Speaking and Writing Hebrew (HEBR 500). To ensure curricular continuity, syllabi and instructional materials for these courses will be provided. The lecturer will be expected to implement an established communicative, proficiency-oriented curriculum emphasizing the development of advanced reading and writing skills and Hebrew language literacy.

For this position, Brown offers only the J-1 visa classification to scholars who need immigration sponsorship in order to enter the U.S. and commence lawful employment under the terms of their appointment.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or higher in Hebrew, Hebrew language pedagogy, or a closely related field. Native or near-native proficiency in Modern Hebrew is required. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience teaching Hebrew at the college or university level.
