Description:

The Carnegie Mellon Institute for Strategy and Technology (CMIST) invites candidates to apply for a full-time 12-month special faculty position as a visiting professor for the 2026 calendar year. The visiting professor should have significant professional expertise in both cybersecurity policy and law, and must have a terminal degree.

The visiting professor will be responsible for teaching the equivalent of two full semester courses during the spring 2026 semester and fall 2026 semester. The courses can be a combination of full semester and mini semester courses. Courses will focus on national security, cybersecurity, surveillance and privacy, and law. Course assignments will be finalized in coordination with CMIST academic leadership.

The visiting professor will have responsibilities for supporting the identification and recruitment of appropriate capstone projects for the Master of Information Technology Strategy (MITS) program that span emerging technologies and policy and may also support or sponsor a summer 2026 MITS capstone project.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the visiting professor will have the following administrative and professional mentorship responsibilities: host 2-3 workshops for CMIST students and faculty, participate in CMIST public engagements as either a speaker, moderator, or discussant, and consult on the development of relevant executive education programs planned and hosted by CMIST.

The position is based on the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania campus.
