Description

College of Marin's noncredit Vocational Construction courses review the materials, tools, techniques, and safety practices used in the construction of diverse applications, focusing on a variety of structures in various settings.

Note: College of Marin's faculty pools are open to applications on a continuous basis. Although there may not be any current openings, applications will remain on file until the hiring department has a need to add candidates to their pool OR for up to one year from the date of application, whichever occurs first. If your application becomes inactive after one year, you may re-apply to the pool at that time. Screenings and interviews can be conducted at any point in time as the hiring department necessitates. Once a screening has occurred, applicants will be notified of their status.

Essential Functions
Instructors appointed to the Vocational Construction Part-time Temporary Pool may be used to cover part-time, temporary and/or substitute openings in the department. Assignments can vary in duration and are not guaranteed. Assignments for Vocational Construction pool instructors include:

  • Providing effective classroom or laboratory instruction in construction using methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter
  • Preparing and grading all class assignments and examinations
  • Advising, assisting and evaluating students, evaluating learning outcomes and maintaining regular office hours
  • Participating in program activities including curriculum and program planning, development, evaluation, and decision making as well as the development of new teaching-learning methods and materials
  • Working evenings and weekends
  • Contributing to development of program policies and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate and timely student records as required
  • Maintaining currency and depth of knowledge in assigned area of responsibility
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
  • Communicating with excellent written and oral skills in English
  • Participation in departmental and college professional activities and/or committees is welcomed, but not required

Requirements & Desirables

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Any Bachelor's degree and two years of occupational experience related to the course taught; or
  2. Any Associate's degree and six years of occupational experience related to the course taught; or
  3. Possession of a full-time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter (applies to short-term noncredit courses only); or
  4. The equivalent*; and
  5. Demonstrated sensitivity to, and an understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • An Associate's or higher degree in a construction-related field.
  • Industry-relevant certifications, including contractor's license, construction project management, or other applicable licensure.
  • Firsthand knowledge of the construction process and proven experience in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate partnerships with related program industry personnel and advisory committee members.
  • Bilingual ability to communicate effectively in English/Spanish or any other foreign language.

Salary Information
Salary Range: $80,887 or $90,657 - $124,850*
Salaries for Part-time Temporary Pool members are based on the number of units taught and are paid at 95% of the Full-time Faculty Salary Schedule...
