General Summary

Instructional position within the Vocational Nursing Department, with primary teaching responsibilities based at the Andrews location. The role may also include occasional teaching assignments at the Odessa campus, as needed to support program delivery and student access. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality instruction, supporting student success, and maintaining flexibility to meet departmental and institutional needs across multiple locations.

Specific Position Duties

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field.
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods, as needed and reasonably requested by the college.
  • Utilizes appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners.
  • Provides students with written expectations (e.g., syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations).
  • Administers tests appropriate to course content, including a comprehensive final exam measuring overall mastery of course objectives.
  • Uses a variety of instructional methods to affirm the worth and dignity of all individuals and support every students right to learn.
  • Maintains an appropriate learning and assessment environment—whether in-person, online, or distance—that encourages the free exchange of ideas while upholding academic honesty and objectivity.
  • Prepares adequately for class and arrives promptly to class meetings, labs, and other scheduled instructional activities.
  • Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Addresses student concerns (e.g., comments, questions, and feedback) both in class and through office hours, timely electronic communication, and other appropriate means.
  • Effectively manages routine procedures necessary for the successful day-to-day operation of the department, as delegated by the department chair.
  • Submits required reports and schedules to the department chair in a timely manner.
  • Maintains effective relationships with professional colleagues across the college and within the community.
  • Provides academic advising to students on degree plans and applications to ensure compliance with completion requirements.
  • Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for departmental programs.
  • Actively participates in college functions and events and engages in community service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Holds a current license or privilege to practice as a vocational or registered nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Has been actively employed in nursing for at least two (2) of the past three (3) years.
  • If not actively employed in nursing within the past three (3) years, possesses advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration that demonstrates continued competency.
  • Possesses prior relevant nursing employment experience.

Work Hours

Class and clinical schedules vary. Work Monday through Friday.
