W2 Professorship in Religious Education with a Focus on Interreligious and Ethical Learning
The appointment is for the earliest possible date.
Your responsibilities
We are looking for a committed and distinguished personality who will place particular emphasis on researching and developing interreligious and ethical competences. The advertised job profile responds to the challenges arising from the increasing religious and ideological plurality of our society as well as developments in school policy. The focus is on the innovative combination of religious and ethical education in the field of tension between positionality and dialogue. The future holder of the post will have a decisive influence on the content of religious didactics and shape it in the sense of cooperative further development. One focus of the teaching activities will be the teaching and consolidation of basic religious didactic skills – in particular through the integration of interreligious and ethical topics in the Bachelor's degree programme in Protestant Theology and Religious Education as well as in the Master's degree programme in Protestant Theology for the teaching profession at primary, secondary and intermediate schools. Due to the structure of the institute, it is expected that the subject area of religious didactics can be represented in its entire breadth in research and teaching. The successful candidate (f/m/d) is expected to be committed to the university’s strategic goals and to actively shape its holistic development (https://www.tu-braunschweig.de/hochschulentwicklung). In addition to the classic service areas of a university (research, teaching and studies, transfer, governance and administration), this applies in particular to digitalisation, internationalisation, equality and diversity, as well as knowledge exchange.
Our expectations
- Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration in research and teaching within the institute, with the faculty, the university as a whole and non-university research institutions as well as to participate in national and international research projects
- Experience with and willingness to acquire third‑party funding
- Collaboration in academic self‑administration and scientific organisation
- Promotion of employees in the qualification phase
- Willingness to contribute to the internationalisation of the university in research, teaching and transfer
Individual career decisions and career breaks due to parental/family care leave affecting research output will be taken into account by the appointment committ.
Requirements, § 25 NHG
- A degree in a relevant field
- Pedagogical aptitude
- Special qualification for in-depth independent scientific work, as a rule proven by an above-average doctorate
- Additional academic achievements, usually within the framework of a junior professorship, a postdoctoral degree (Habilitation) or achievements equivalent to a Habilitation
- At least three years of practical school experience or suitable pedagogical experience or experience in empirical research appropriate to the tasks.
