At the Faculty of Economics and Management of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, a W3 Professorship in Business Administration, specifically in Human Resource and Organization, is to be filled at the earliest possible date.

Otto von Guericke University, located in the state capital Magdeburg, is a medium-sized university with several modern focus areas and excellent connections to numerous research institutions both regionally and worldwide. The Faculty of Economics and Management is one of its largest faculties, offering a wide range of degree programs in both German and English.

The Professorship

This professorship offers you the opportunity to actively shape key future-oriented topics in human resource management, leadership, and organizational development within a dynamic environment.

In the field of “Human Resource Management and Organization,” you will actively contribute to both research and teaching, focusing on at least one of the following areas:

• Organizational Behavior
• Leadership
• Human Resource Management (recruiting, performance, compensation, development)
• HR Analytics

The position includes teaching in both German and English in the faculty’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, particularly in core areas of business administration as well as in the specialization “Human Resource Management and Organization,” including advanced modules.

Further responsibilities include:

• supervising and supporting early-career researchers,
• knowledge transfer to business, public administration, and society,
• acquisition of third-party funding, and
• active participation in academic self-governance.

There are also excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within the faculty and across the university.

Your Profile

We seek a professional with:

• internationally visible research in the field of “human resource management and organization,” demonstrated by publications in leading international journals,
• relevant teaching experience in large course formats and with innovative teaching methods,
• experience in acquiring third-party funding,
• willingness to actively collaborate within the faculty and engage in interdisciplinary cooperation across the university,
• excellent command of both German and English.

Commitment to good scientific practice and leadership is as important to you as diversity-sensitive communication. To meet high standards in teaching, supervision, and leadership, you are appropriately trained or willing to undergo such training.

You value interdisciplinary collaboration, are willing to work in diverse teams, and actively engage in building networks.

The appointment requirements pursuant to § 35 of the Higher Education Act of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA) must be fulfilled.
