Welding Aide WS, Student
Job Summary
Under direction of the Department Chairs and Instructional Specialists. Students will prepare welding materials with saws, oxy/act troches and assist with shop cleanup and organization.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- This position requires current enrollment at the LBCC Welding program or the Pipe Trades program.
- Students must be in good standing at LBCC.
- Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better, and have financial aid in place to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity at Linn-Benton Community College.
Knowledge and Experience
- Students must be a student in the Welding or Pipe Trade Program(s).
Abilities
- Student employees must have the ability to perform all of the duties of the position efficiently and effectively.
- This position requires the ability to utilize metal processing equipment. Training will be provided.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- This position involves the use of physical labor of which includes lifting 25 pounds or more.
- We hope for our candidate to have a good understanding of safety practices.
- All work is performed in an industrial shop setting located in the Linn-Benton Community College Albany Campus.
- Most work duties include being on your feet for most of the duration of your shift.
Essential Duties
- Cut and prepare welding materials.
- Cleanup in all IA and IC shops as needed.
- Check and track steel yard and welding consumable inventory as needed.
- Fabricating welding parts as needed.
