Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Faculty Development Specialist supports and develops opportunities of training, teaching, and facilitating innovations in teaching pedagogies, curricular instruction, and technology applications that enhance student learning. The Faculty Development Specialist creates and coordinates faculty professional development opportunities to increase teacher efficacy, encourage instructional innovation, and to generate knowledge on the scholarship of teaching.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:
- Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience working within the University of North Carolina System or another large public higher education system.
- Experience supporting faculty across multiple disciplines and appointment types (tenure-track, non-tenure-track, clinical, adjunct).
- Familiarity with instructional technologies, learning management systems, and digital teaching tools.
