Title: Adjunct Instructor Mathematics (online) 

Status: Adjunct

Track Type: Non-Tenure

Pay Compensation: $700 per credit hour if there are 8 or more students in the course. If less than 8 students, the pay is paid per student and is tiered depending on the number of students and credits per course.

Job Description 

Upper Iowa University is seeking Adjuncts to join a pool for online teaching. Courses might include Math for Liberal Arts, College Mathematics with Applications and Elementary Statistics. Additional opportunities for remote synchronous course delivery (Zoom) might also be available. 

Job Duties 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Teaching students in assigned course(s);
• Abiding by and upholding the University’s mission, policies, and core values;
• Developing the course syllabus and implementing it once it meets School standards;
• Planning and creating course materials such as lectures, discussions, and assignments;
• Assigning grades for students based on such criteria as participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations;
• Collaborating with colleagues on course design, content, and curriculum;
• Meeting all scheduled class periods (for synchronous courses);
• Being available to students for individual consultation;
• Assisting students on how to be successful in class;
• Staying current within field of study;
• Submitting final grades by the specified due date.

Required Qualifications 

• Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Mathematics or a related field;
• Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Upper Iowa University;
• Committed to excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Doctorate;
• Teaching experience in higher education.
