Work out of Class - Interim Director of Advising
The Interim Director of Advising provides leadership for an academic advising team supporting the College of Business and Management. To support university-wide advising goals and initiatives for current and prospective students, the director directs the daily work of MSUAASF academic advisors and academic support staff and supports the work of IFO advisors associated with CBM. The interim director manages and leads the provision of advising for the team including hiring, supervision, and professional development of MSUAASF academic advisors and academic advising support staff. Along with the team-associated dean, the director ensures regular and effective communication between faculty and academic advisors to support shared advising goals. The director collaborates with other directors and the Executive Director of Academic Advising to develop university-wide policies, procedures, training, materials, and assessment of advising effectiveness tools.
Salary Range: $54,344.00 - $116,608.00
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree plus three years of advanced professional experience in a content-specific field or Bachelor’s degree plus four years of advanced professional experience in a content-specific field or an equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education and/or advanced professional experience. Demonstrated effectiveness developing and implementing highly complex initiatives. Demonstrated collaborative leadership skills. Ability to serve as a credible expert with advanced knowledge of academic advising (in the team and across the university). Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication. Demonstrated contributions to equity and inclusion goals, particularly related to student recruitment and retention.
Preferred Qualification: Master’s degree or Doctorate degree. Demonstrated effectiveness in a supervisory role. Demonstrated experience with evaluation and/or assessment of program efficacy.
Working Conditions: On-campus work expected with up to 3 remote work days allowed per week, evening and weekend hours may be expected, and travel may be required to local community colleges, university locations, and/or other settings within the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.
Physical Requirements: Light; Requires occasionally transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or transporting light objects frequently. The position may require movement throughout building(s) to a significant degree.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work): Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Telework: Yes, at the discretion of the supervisor.
