Young Achievers Academy - Program Facilitator
Job Description
The Young Achievers Academy Summer Camp Program Facilitator leads a day camp program designed for high school students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare. This role involves student supervision, course content development and program execution, completing program data collection, evaluation, and outcomes reporting.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed health care provider and/or health educator
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Experience in leading, mentoring, tutoring, or educational youth programs.
- Experience with healthcare environments and / or academic programs.
- Familiarity with University of Indianapolis campus, programs, and opportunities
- Knowledge about higher education application processes and skills for success
- Organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
Education
BS / BA in any health care field or education / health education will be considered
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be responsible for guiding all Young Achievers camp participants (high school students in grades 9-12) through daily on-campus and community-based activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and facilitate daily camp activities focused on healthcare careers (e.g., nursing, physical therapy, public health, medicine)
- Supervise and mentor high school participants, ensuring their safety, engagement, and well-being.
- Lead daily hands-on learning experiences such as simulations, lab activities, and workshops.
- Oversee students participating in on- campus experiences, guest lectures, and off-campus field experiences.
- Lead small group discussions and team-building exercises.
- Coordinate check-in/check-out processes, attendance tracking, and general administrative tasks.
- Identify and enforce camp policies and respond appropriately to student concerns or emergencies.
- Communicate with parents and students on all camp requirements, expectations, and answer questions / provide requested resources
- Collaborate with staff to evaluate and improve program activities.
- Follow the guidance and direction of the supervisor.
- Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior.
- Abide by the University’s policies, procedures, and rules.
- Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
- Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
