We have a warm, welcoming community that's grounded in a strong work ethic. Our 7,470 students are people of strong character who are willing to work hard to realize their potential. They come from 36 states and 26 nations, and 73,000 alumni can be found across the U.S. and beyond. 

Students come to KU knowing that they’ll be supported and challenged. Our undergraduate programs are offered in the colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Visual and Performing Arts, Business, and Education. There are also 25 graduate areas of study, including two doctoral programs. KU is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and was founded in 1866 as Keystone State Normal School. It became Kutztown State Teachers College in 1928, Kutztown State College in 1960, and achieved university status in 1983.

Today, Kutztown is a modern, comprehensive institution and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Many academic programs are also accredited, while the faculty is teaching-focused with scholarly expertise. They provide individual attention to students, and 94% our tenured/tenure track faculty have doctorates or terminal degrees.
