• Dr. Charlie Veron - Graduated from the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) in 1974. Known as the 'Godfather of Coral', he is a renowned marine biologist who has extensively contributed to coral reef research.
• Dr. Ove Hoegh-Guldberg - AIMS alumnus, he is a leading scientist in the field of climate change and coral reefs, and a Professor at the University of Queensland.
• Dr. Peter Doherty - Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine in 1996 for discoveries concerning the specificity of the cell mediated immune defence. He worked at AIMS early in his career.
