• George Soros - Philanthropist, investor, and founder of the Open Society Foundations, attended Central European University in the early 1990s.
• Iveta Radičová - Former Prime Minister of Slovakia (2010-2012), graduated from CEU with a PhD in Sociology in 2005.
• András Sajó - Judge at the European Court of Human Rights, received his PhD from Central European University in 1993.
