QBRI - Qatar Biomedical Research Institute Campuses

The HBKU Research Complex campus, home to the Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), specializes in advanced biomedical and translational research to combat major health challenges in Qatar and the region. Situated in the state-of-the-art Research and Development Complex in Education City, this campus hosts three dedicated research centers focusing on diabetes, neurological disorders, and cancer, alongside seven core facilities that support cutting-edge experimentation and training. Although primarily research-oriented, the campus facilitates graduate-level education and training programs for HBKU students, emphasizing hands-on research experience in biomedical sciences.

• Diabetes Research Center (DRC): Key areas include genetic studies of type 2 diabetes, beta-cell biology, novel therapeutics, and precision medicine approaches tailored to the Qatari population.
• Neurological Disorders Research Center (NDRC): Focuses on high-prevalence disorders like autism spectrum disorders, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative diseases, with research on genomics, neurodevelopment, and therapeutic interventions.
• Translational Medicine and Oncology Research: Advances cancer research through translational oncology, immunotherapy, tumor microenvironment studies, and personalized cancer treatments.
• Core Facilities Training: Genomics (NGS, CRISPR), Proteomics (mass spectrometry), Stem Cell and Organoids, Structural Biology, Bioimaging, High-Throughput Screening, and Bioinformatics, offering specialized workshops and courses for researchers and students.
• Interdisciplinary Programs: Collaborative graduate courses in biomedical data science, molecular medicine, and clinical translation, integrating research with HBKU's College of Health and Life Sciences curriculum.
