The University Town Campus of the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) serves as the central hub for groundbreaking research and graduate education, with a primary academic focus on the multidisciplinary fusion of information technology (IT) and biotechnology (BT). Founded in 2006 as a collaboration between the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Shenzhen Municipal Government, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, this campus drives innovation through integrated platforms for fundamental research, technological development, and industrial translation.
SIAT offers Master's and PhD programs in six core disciplines, emphasizing cross-disciplinary approaches. Key subject areas and courses are delivered through specialized institutes and labs housed on campus.
Complementing these, ten research institutes—including those in Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedicine, Brain Sciences, Synthetic Biology, and Materials Sciences—provide hands-on training in specialized labs. Students undertake courses like AI in healthcare, brain-machine interfaces, gene editing technologies, and advanced materials for biotech applications, preparing them for leadership in global scientific challenges.
