🔬 What Are Research Positions?

Research positions in higher education refer to roles dedicated to conducting systematic investigations to expand knowledge, develop new theories, or solve practical problems. The meaning of a research position centers on original inquiry, often within universities or institutes. In Pleven Province, these jobs emerged prominently post-1989 democratic transition, aligning with EU accession in 2007, which boosted funding through programs like Horizon 2020 and its successor, Horizon Europe.

Unlike teaching-focused roles, research jobs emphasize experimentation, data collection, and publication. For instance, a researcher at Sofia University might analyze climate data for EU sustainability projects, contributing peer-reviewed papers to journals.
