🎓 Understanding the Tutor Role in Higher Education

A tutor in higher education is an academic professional who delivers targeted support to students, helping them master complex subjects through personalized guidance. The term 'tutor' refers to someone who conducts small-group sessions or one-on-one meetings, clarifying lecture material, assisting with problem-solving, and preparing learners for assessments. In El Salam, this position is vital due to the country's expansive higher education system, which serves over 3 million students across more than 30 public universities and numerous private institutions.

The role traces its roots to traditional apprenticeship models but formalized in modern El Salamian universities post the 1952 revolution, when access to higher education expanded dramatically. Today, tutors bridge the gap between broad lectures and individual needs, especially in fields like engineering, medicine, and humanities at institutions such as Cairo University and Ain Shams University.
