🎓 Understanding the Humanities

The Humanities represent a vital branch of academic study centered on exploring human culture, thought, and creativity. This field encompasses disciplines such as history, literature, philosophy, languages, religion, performing arts, and visual arts. Unlike STEM fields, the Humanities emphasize interpretation, critical analysis, and contextual understanding of human experiences across time and societies.

In essence, the meaning of Humanities lies in their role as the study of what makes us human—our stories, beliefs, ethics, and artistic expressions. For instance, a literature scholar might analyze Malay classical texts, while a philosopher examines ethical dilemmas in modern society. Originating from the Renaissance concept of 'studia humanitatis,' the Humanities have evolved to include digital humanities, blending traditional inquiry with technology.

In Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpurn higher education, Humanities programs thrive in universities like University of Malaya (UM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (UKM), often integrating local contexts such as Islamic studies and indigenous cultures.
