Rate My Professor Ana Maria Daza Vargas

Dr Ana Maria Daza Vargas is Senior Lecturer in International Law at The University of Edinburgh Law School and Programme Director of the LLM in International Economic Law. She holds an Abogado degree, an LL.M. from the Magister Iuris Communis Programme at Maastricht University, an LL.M. in Law and Economics from Utrecht University, a law degree with a diploma in Economic Regulation of Public Utilities from Universidad Católica Boliviana and Pro-Universidad, and a Ph.D. in law from the University of Dundee. She joined the Law School as a teaching fellow in 2013 and teaches courses within the Programme of International Economic Law, including WTO Law, International Investment Law, and International Commercial Arbitration.

Her research interests include International Investment Law, International Law, Water Law and Water Management, WTO Law, and Economic Regulation. Prior to joining the University of Edinburgh, she taught subjects within the Water Law LLM Programme at the Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science at the University of Dundee and served as a research fellow at Maastricht University. She previously worked as Legal Officer and Legal Director at the Public Utility regulatory System (SIRESE) in Bolivia, advising on appeals in sectors including Telecommunications, Electricity, Hydrocarbons, Water Supply, and Transport. She has also acted as an independent consultant for AACNI International Law Firm and is editor of the online newsletter Arbitration Watch.
