Dr Geoffrey Amoateng serves as Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing programme within the College of Health and Society at Buckinghamshire New University. His academic role focuses on mental health nursing education and supervision of research degrees in the Health and Wellbeing area. Dr Amoateng maintains active research interests in mental health nursing alongside culture and beliefs in healing practices.
He has published work including the 2025 article titled The role of locus of control in nursing practice appearing in the British Journal of Nursing. Additional contributions encompass an ethnographic study of Pentecostal healing examining religious beliefs and healing practices as well as research addressing Black nurses and midwives as forgotten heroes. Dr Amoateng is affiliated with Buckinghamshire New University and contributes to programme leadership and student support in mental health nursing.
