Rate My Professor Norah Fogarty

Dr Norah Fogarty is a Group Leader and Lecturer in the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London, specifically within the School of Basic & Medical Biosciences and the Centre for Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine. Her research interests centre on the placenta, trophoblast and pregnancy. She obtained her PhD from the Centre for Trophoblast Research at the University of Cambridge, where she studied transcriptional dynamics in the syncytiotrophoblast of the human placenta. She completed postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Professor Kathy Niakan at the Francis Crick Institute, where she applied single-cell RNA-sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing and molecular analyses of human embryos to investigate lineage-specific gene expression. She subsequently established her independent research group at the Centre for Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine at King’s College London. In April 2020 she was awarded a King’s Prize Fellowship and in October 2023 she received a UKRI Future Leader Fellowship. These appointments and awards reflect her contributions to understanding early human development and placental biology.
