Accursio Dimino is a Senior Lecturer in Construction in the School of Computing, Engineering and Creative Industries at the University of Bedfordshire, where he joined in 2014 as a Visiting Lecturer and was appointed full-time in 2018. Previously, at Moulton College, he worked as a Lecturer in the Built Environment and NVQ Assessor for Apprenticeships in Construction Management, collaborating with students, candidates, and employers. His career originated as an indentured apprentice bricklayer, leading to participation in regional competitions and membership on the Education Committee of The Guild of Bricklayers (Southern Region), where he organized events, produced drawings, and judged. Beginning teaching at 21, he spent 18 months in Australia working on residential and commercial buildings, advancing to management on a project for Murdoch University involving student accommodation and lecture theatres. In the UK, he served as Assistant Site Manager for a Design and Build Company, founded his own building contracting and development business, held lecturing positions with course quality responsibilities, and advanced to Programme Manager for Construction Management and Deputy Head of Construction. He also acted as Assessor in Construction Management from 2015-2018.
Dimino earned a BSc (Honours) in Building Processes in 2002, accompanied by ICIOB award, a BA in Professional Studies in Post-Compulsory Education from Oxford Brookes University in 2003, a Certificate in Education (Cert Ed) at Lady Spencer Churchill College, Associate Membership of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), and more recently, Academic Professional status via a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning Apprenticeship. His academic interests encompass Continuous Professional Development (CPD), focusing on skills gaps, currency, and relevance of CPD processes, alongside Quality Control, Risk Management, and Emerging Technologies. Teaching specialties include Land and Building Surveying, Building Technology, Construction Economics, Health and Safety, AutoCAD, and Revit. Key publications are "Engineered - The Use of Engineered Timber" (SUM 2012) and "Sustainable Villages through off-grid computing" (SUM 2016). A Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) member since 2002, Dimino contributes to the Institute for Research in Engineering and Sustainable Environment (IRESE).
