Adriana E. Gil-Wilkerson, Ph.D., LMFT-Supervisor, LPC-Associate, serves as Program Director of the COAMFTE-Accredited Marriage and Family Therapy Program and Assistant Professor of Psychology at the Houston campus of Our Lady of the Lake University, roles she assumed in August 2025 and since August 2021, respectively. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision from Sam Houston State University in May 2021, with a dissertation titled "Conversations about supervision with Spanish-speaking, bilingual therapists trained in collaborative-dialogic practices." Her earlier degrees include a Master of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Our Lady of the Lake University in August 2005 and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Houston between 1997 and 2000. Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist-Supervisor and LPC-Associate in Texas, she holds AAMFT Approved Supervisor status, an International Certificate in Collaborative Practices from the Houston Galveston Institute, and a Queer and Trans Affirming Professional Certificate.
Gil-Wilkerson has provided marriage and family therapy services in Texas since 2003, beginning her training as a master’s level therapist at the Houston Galveston Institute, where she later advanced to Clinical and Training Director from June 2015 to May 2021 and Associate Director from May to November 2021. Her career at Our Lady of the Lake University spans multiple roles, including Graduate Assistant from 2004 to 2005, Adjunct Professor from 2010 to 2021, and Clinic Director from 2021 to 2025, involving teaching courses such as PSYC 8301 Group and Family Process, PSYC 8359 Couples and Sex Therapy, PSYC 8348 Strengths Based Approaches in Contemporary Issues: Substance Use, and practicum supervision in reflecting team settings using systemic and postmodern frameworks including solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and collaborative-dialogic therapy.
