Alexander Dawson is a Lecturer in the Murdoch Business School at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. He concurrently serves as Academic Operations Coordinator for Management and Marketing. Dawson holds a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from Murdoch University, obtained between 2005 and 2010. His declared research expertise includes learning sciences and human resources and industrial relations not elsewhere classified, areas that inform his contributions to teaching and academic operations within the business discipline.
Dawson teaches essential undergraduate units such as BUS123 Management in a Global Environment, spanning 2019 to 2025, and BUS145 Principles of Management. These courses cover foundational topics in global business practices and managerial principles. In 2013, he co-authored and presented "The effect of academic instructor feedback on self and peer evaluations in team projects" at the Teaching and Learning Forum (TL Forum) alongside Antonia Girardi of the Murdoch Business School. Employing a quasi-experimental design with 26 observations from students in a second-year business management course, the paper analyzed how instructor feedback—including assigned grades—impacts self and peer evaluation outcomes in team projects. Results showed that feedback influences students' rating motivations, potentially improving the reliability of summative peer assessments. Dawson has also acted as Murdoch University's institutional representative for the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM). He is located in room 512.1.033.
