Alison Butcher serves as Senior Lecturer in the Curtin School of Allied Health within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University. She is the Course Coordinator for the Master of Occupational Therapy program, responsible for managing the postgraduate curriculum that prepares students for professional practice in occupational therapy. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Curtin University and the post-nominal AFHEA as an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Butcher demonstrates a solid foundation in both clinical and educational domains. Her professional standing is further affirmed by her accreditation as a Hand Therapist awarded by the Australian Hand Therapy Association, underscoring her specialized competence in hand and upper limb rehabilitation.
Butcher contributes significantly to teaching through units like MEDS3003 Orthoses and Upper Limb Rehabilitation, where she instructs on orthotic applications and rehabilitation protocols for upper limb disorders. As a member of the award-winning Orthoses and Upper Limb Rehabilitation Teaching Team—alongside lead David Parsons and Julie Brayshaw—she helped earn recognition in the Faculty of Health Sciences' Teaching Excellence and Innovation Awards for outstanding contributions to student learning. Located at the Curtin Perth campus in Building 401, Room 360, she supports students and colleagues with contact available via phone at 08 9266 7859. Butcher's integration of clinical expertise as a senior occupational therapist with academic instruction enriches the educational experience in allied health at Curtin University.
