Dr Amit Saha serves as an Adjunct Clinical Senior Lecturer at Curtin Medical School within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University. He is a qualified Paediatric Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, and trained paediatric endoscopist. His academic qualifications include MBBS, MCEM, FRCPCH, FRACP, a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the UK, a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from ESME/Dundee University, and a Postgraduate Certificate with distinction in Clinical Leadership from the KSS Deanery, London. Dr Saha underwent higher specialist training in Paediatrics within the UK's National Health Service, subspecialising in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at prestigious centres including King's College Hospital, Royal London Hospital, and St George's Hospital as part of the RCPCH GRID trainee London South of Thames rotation. He accumulated 14 years of experience in the NHS, serving as an ex-Committee Member of the RCPCH Trainees Committee. Following his UK training, he worked as a full-time Consultant in Paediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne until December 2020. Currently, he holds a public appointment as Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist at St John of God Midland Public Hospital, where he also serves as Departmental Audit Lead and Director of Clinical Training in Paediatrics.
Dr Saha's research specializations centre on paediatric hepatology, where he acts as Coordinating Principal Investigator for an ongoing international multicentre cohort study. His contributions include peer-reviewed publications, notably as first author of the RCPCH PGHAN SPIN module curriculum, endorsed by BSPGHAN and RCPCH as the national training curriculum for UK Gastroenterology SPIN trainees. Key publications encompass 'Paediatric necrotising pancreatitis' in BMJ Case Reports (2026) and 'Cystic fibrosis-related liver disease in children - A vascular or a biliary disease?' in Journal of Cystic Fibrosis (2025). He has received the ESPGHAN Young Investigator Award for submitted abstracts consecutively from 2015 to 2017. Through his roles, Dr Saha influences clinical training and research in paediatrics, particularly in gastroenterology and hepatology.
