Ana Rita Sequeira serves as Senior Lecturer in Health Policy and Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) in the Murdoch Business School at Murdoch University. She earned her PhD in African Studies, focusing on medical anthropology, from ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon, completed between 2012 and 2016. Prior to her academic career, Sequeira managed programs for humanitarian organisations in Mozambique and conducted applied research to inform public policy in Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia, and East Timor. She currently acts as Academic Chair of the Master of Health Administration, Policy and Leadership program at Murdoch University. Sequeira also maintains an affiliation with ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon.
Sequeira's research specializations include vaccination preferences and policies, artificial intelligence applications in higher education and healthcare, health administration, and refugee health. Her key publications encompass "Responses to COVID-19 in five Latin American countries" (2020, cited by 319), "Democracy, Trust, and Political Orientation: Disentangling Mechanisms Shaping Individuals’ Vaccine Attitudes" (2026), "Vaccination Preferences and Predictors of Vaccine Hesitancy in Brazil: A Discrete Choice Experiment" (2026), "Are we ready for the next pandemic? Public preferences and trade-offs between vaccine characteristics and societal restrictions across 21 countries" (2025), "Feedback format preferences of international post-graduate students in Australia: an exploratory mixed methods study" (2023), "Government Policies in Portugal and Brazil: a three-year retrospective analysis" (2023), the book chapter "Leading a Healthy Workforce" (2023), "Assessing the short-term outcomes of a piped water supply intervention in peri-urban Mozambique" (2019), and "Is the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) sufficient to generate transparency in environmental impact and legacy risks? The Zambian minerals sector" (2016). With over 440 citations documented on ResearchGate, her contributions have influenced discussions in health policy and global health. Sequeira holds Fellow status with the Australasian College of Health Service Management (AFACHSM) and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
