Dr Andrea Wallace is a Lecturer in Management at the UNE Business School, University of New England, Armidale, Australia. She holds a PhD in Public Administration and serves as a member of the Centre for Local Government. Her research specializations include local government economics and policies, particularly amalgamations and public inquiries, regional local government policy, structure, and reform, public policy, political economy and history, economic history, organisational studies, and organisational communication. Dr Wallace acts as an HDR supervisor in these research areas. She coordinates and teaches units including Communication for Professionals (BUS500), The International Economy (ECON244 and ECON144), and Communication for Business (MM105).
Dr Andrea Wallace has authored numerous publications on local government and public policy topics. Key publications include "Municipal Responses to COVID-19: the case of library closures in New South Wales local government" (2021), "Regulatory dark matter: How unofficial rules shape policy outcomes in the Australian regulatory environment" (2025), "Fit for the future: Public inquiries and NSW local government" (2023), "Local Emergency Co-Production in Australia: The Case of the New South Wales Rural Fire Service" (2022), "Amalgamation in Action: Participant Perspectives on the Armidale Regional Council Merger Process" (2019), "Merger Melancholia: An Empirical Analysis of the Perceptions of the Residents of the Forcibly Amalgamated Manilla Shire Council" (2019), "Local Voices on forced mergers in small rural Australian local governments" (2018), "Business Communication, Digital Innovation, and Decoding Possibilities for the Student Receiver" (2020), "How Two Became One: The creation of the Armidale Regional Council" (2018), and a contribution to "Economics Education in Australian Public Universities: An Empirical Investigation" (2025).
