Position: Assistant Professor of Public Administration
Effective Date: August 17, 2027 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range: The Assistant Professor (2026-27 AY) classification salary is $6,221 to $13,224/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $7,200 to $7,800/per month. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in public administration, public policy, political science or closely related field. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2027
• Demonstrated potential for effectiveness teaching graduate-level public administration courses.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, scholarly, and creative activities.
• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to teach public budgeting and finance courses.
• Evidence of research agenda in public administration and scholarly achievements (e.g., conference presentations, publications, grant activity, etc.)
• Ability to teach a variety of core and elective MPA courses in a variety of modalities.
• Experience successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body.
• Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom.

Duties: Teach graduate public administration courses in a NASPAA accredited MPA program. Contribute to the faculty shared governance of the program, and contribute to accreditation activities. Engage in high quality research that leads to conference participation and peer-reviewed publications. Provide service to the department, college, university, and community. (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.)
