Very positive and great at making lessons engaging. He utilizes konkrete examples and applications during his lessons to explain concepts from the getgo. You can always ask questions and get good explanations. The courseload is never too high and the lessons are well structured. Best professor at LMU in my opinion.

About Andreas

Prof. Dr. Andreas Butz is Professor of Computer Science at LMU Munich, where he holds the Chair for Human-Computer-Interaction in the Media Informatics Group. He earned his diploma in 1994 and his doctoral degree in 1997 from Saarland University, with his dissertation focusing on an incremental approach to generating informative 3D animations. Butz has been affiliated with LMU Munich since at least 2000, serving as chair of the Human-Computer-Interaction group and contributing to the Institute for Informatics. His research specializes in human-computer interaction, visualization, pervasive computing, augmented reality, tangible user interfaces, and interactive systems, with extensive publications in venues such as CHI, UIST, AVI, and Smart Graphics symposia. Key contributions include work on mobile interaction techniques, collaborative visualization, gesture recognition, and AI-supported interfaces, evidenced by numerous papers from the 1990s through the 2020s on topics like proxemics in human-robot interaction, VR training systems, and prompt engineering for creative writing. Butz has received recognition including a best paper award in 2010 for evaluating information visualization in large companies. He has organized and edited proceedings for multiple Smart Graphics symposia and workshops on ubiquitous user interfaces, and maintains active involvement in academic committees and editorial roles within the HCI community.
